Modest is Hottest

Last week we were able to teach the activity day girls about modesty. First we watched a video clip about how people try to do something that everyone else was doing even though they knew it was wrong. Then, following that, the young women did two skits. After, the young women helped the activity day girls make newspaper dresses to walk down the "Runway"! We all had a blast!

Remember This Week....

This week we are going to be having two activities. Today, we are doing the activity with the achievement days girls. ( At 7:00pm )
And then on Friday, at 6:30pm, we are going to be decorating cupcakes for Mother's Day!

The Book of Mormon 100 day Challenge

Today, Sister Withers gave us a lesson on The Book of Mormon. She told us about how the Book of Mormon can give us answers to all of our questions.
      She gave ALL of the Young Women a 100 day challenge. It was to read The Book of Mormon in 100 days!
  

If you weren't there that Sunday, ask Sister Withers for a copy of the challenge.

By the way... if you are in the middle of reading The Book of Mormon, it is recommended that you start from the beginning. 

Since it lasts 100 days, it will end August 13. (Week before Girl's Camp, which means we get to bear our testimony there about the challenge!)

For mutual this week, we did the cook off! We split into 4 different groups. We all learned how to work as a team and communicate with each other. And we learned some new tips and tricks!

Relief Society Tour

We were privileged to have a tour by Sister McKonkie around the R.S. building and the offices. She took us to the Reception room where there were donated vases and paintings and sculptures. She had us sit in the President's Room that was adorned with portraits of the past and present president's of the Relief Society, Young Women, and Primary.

After making a few stops in the Resource Center, we were able to go to some of the Sisters' offices and see their displays.

Bread Making With the Miners

Michelle Miner was gracious enough to teach us, A BIG GROUP, how to make bread. Not only did she teach us, she let us invade her home that night. It was a great night and opened up so many possibilities with what you could do with a basic bread recipe. The girls enjoyed making cinnamon rolls, cream cheese & blueberry braided bread, and pepperoni and red sauce rolls. Delicious!!

PROGRESSIVE DINNER!

We have started a tradition with the YW/YM every year we have a progressive dinner, just before the holiday season begins! We had a great turn out. We had so many people from our ward who volunteered to host a appetizer/dinner at their home, the youth loved it. We ended the night with a devotional from our Bishop. He encouraged ALL of us to forget about our selves, that the lord in his final hours of his life here in mortality was not thinking of himself. He had been at the very feet of his servants. Let us not forget the challenge!
